Teh Tarik Skincare and the Food-Inspired Catalogue 2027: Five Ready Formulas

English · 中文 · Bahasa Malaysia · 日本語

Five ready skincare formulas built on flavours Southeast Asia already craves — teh tarik, purple yam, dragon fruit, bitter-and-sweet botanicals and strawberry yogurt. “Teh tarik” draws 10,000–100,000 Malaysian searches a month; not one skincare brand is using it.

Quick answer

ORIZI Group’s food-inspired skincare collection is five ready-to-brand formulas — a bi-layer face mist, a surfactant-free gel scrub, a serum-to-gel treatment, a cooling gel moisturizer and a surfactant-free cleansing cream — each built around a food story, available from 500 units per SKU under your own brand. The full catalogue is on this page, page by page.

Key takeaways

  • Gourmand beauty is no longer a summer spike. It is a year-round line extension globally — banana, ube, rice, coffee grounds and upcycled fruit peels have all crossed from the kitchen into skincare.
  • Southeast Asian flavours have not crossed. Across 2026 launches, teh tarik, pandan and ais bandung are still absent from skincare at scale.
  • The demand signal is already measurable: “teh tarik” alone draws 10,000–100,000 searches a month in Malaysia, against 100–1,000 for “face mist”.
  • Five formulas are finished and ready to brand, from 500 units per SKU.
  • Every clinical figure quoted below comes from raw-material supplier studies, not from ORIZI finished-product testing.

The appetite: the world is eating its skincare

Gourmand beauty trend 2026 - banana, ube, rice and upcycled fruit in skincare
Food makes beauty generous, familiar and joyful — and the category has outlived its 2025 spike.

Food makes beauty generous, familiar and joyful. Gourmand beauty outlived the 2025 summer spike and became a permanent category: mass brands keep extending food-blended lines rather than retiring them. “Banana skin care” searches rose 22%. Rhode went caramelised banana; Huda Beauty and Tower 28 went ube. Rice, tallow, coffee grounds, fruit seeds and peels are all in the pantry now. Shoppers are buying appetite.

Directional trade and trend-press commentary, not a market-size forecast.

The opening: nobody has tasted Southeast Asia yet

Southeast Asian flavours missing from skincare - teh tarik, pandan, ais bandung
The gourmand shelf speaks vanilla, matcha, banana and rice. It does not yet speak teh tarik.

The gourmand shelf speaks vanilla, matcha, banana and rice. Across 2026 launches, teh tarik, pandan and ais bandung have yet to arrive in skincare at scale. The craving is already here — Inside Scoop’s 2026 Lokal Legends range includes a BOH teh tarik ice cream, and the region has loved these flavours for generations. It has simply never worn them.

That gap is measurable. In Google Keyword Planner for Malaysia, teh tarik returns 10,000–100,000 average monthly searches. Face mist returns 100–1,000. Gourmand skincare — the term the global trade press uses — returns 0–10. The audience is searching for the flavour, not the category.

The collection: five cravings, one table

Five food-inspired ready formulas from ORIZI Group
Five ready formulas. Launch one, or launch the whole table.

Each formula below is finished. Fragrance, colour, scrub particle, pack format, naming and claim angle are yours; the active system and formulation architecture stay with ORIZI. Several actives are new raw materials bought in for this range, so ordering more than one SKU at a time improves raw-material economics.

01. Teh Tarik Face Mist

Teh Tarik Face Mist - bi-layer OEM face mist formula
The mist that pulls itself: separate, shake, reset.

The hero of the range, and the only one no global shelf is carrying. A bi-layer mist separates in the bottle like pulled tea resting in a glass. A quick shake emulsifies the two phases into one fine mist carrying both water-soluble and oil-soluble actives; about an hour later the layers return.

  • Texture — bi-layer mist. Frequency — daily. Benefit — refresh.
  • Can be built with black tea leaf extract (Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract) so the name is carried by a real ingredient.
  • A three-second shelf demonstration that films itself — built for creator-led and travel-retail launches.

The separation is designed behaviour, not instability. Artwork must carry a shake-before-use instruction.

02. Yam Scrub

Yam Scrub - surfactant-free purple yam gel scrub OEM formula
Purple, earthy, impossibly gentle — a scrub a sensitive range can carry.

A scrub for everyone who was told they could not use a scrub. No surfactants, so nothing strips; no oil, so it rinses fresh and matte with no residue. Twice-weekly physical exfoliation designed with the barrier and microbiome in mind.

  • Texture — oil-free gel. Frequency — twice weekly. Benefit — exfoliate.
  • Purple yam and ube carry a fast-moving global beauty cue.
  • Can be built with purple sweet potato extract (Ipomoea Batatas), so the violet comes from the ingredient rather than a dye.

A twice-weekly instruction belongs on pack. Do not position as a daily exfoliant.

03. Dragon Flame Serum

Dragon Flame Serum - serum-to-gel with 7HA and Decatide
Goes on like water, sets like silk.
Supplier evidence behind Dragon Flame Serum actives
Supplier evidence behind the actives — study design and limits stated.

A weightless serum that dries into a gel-like second skin: comfortable to wear, effortless to layer. This is the formula with the hardest numbers behind its actives.

  • Texture — serum-to-gel. Frequency — daily. Benefit — hydrate and firm.
  • HyaMatrix™ VII+ (7HA) — seven hyaluronate forms; +57% skin moisture within five minutes (corneometer, 30 subjects aged 21–34, 5% cream versus opposite-forearm placebo; p<0.001 at 0–5 min).
  • WinPep® Decatide — decapeptide complex; elasticity R7 +16.0%, R5 +15.4%, R2 +9.6% at 30 days (30 volunteers, 5% serum twice daily, MPA580, all p<0.05 versus placebo).
  • Pitaya ExoPhyte™ — dragon fruit upcycled from unsold harvest; stratum corneum hydration +36.8% and water loss −27.8% at 28 days (3% serum). COSMOS-approved, vegan, halal-suitable, traceable.

All figures above come from raw-material supplier studies using 3–5% active in test creams or serums, not from the finished Dragon Flame Serum. Consumer percentages are self-reported. Claims for a finished product must be substantiated by that product’s own testing and local regulation.

04. Mix Berry Gel Moisturizer

Mix Berry Gel Moisturizer with Amaretine bitter-sweet complex
Bitter meets sweet — a food story that is literally true.
Supplier evidence behind Mix Berry Gel Moisturizer actives
Supplier evidence behind the soothing and redness actives.

Cool on contact, melts in with no white cast and no tack; wears alone under SPF and layers under anything. Andrographolide from the King of Bitters meets glycyrrhetinic acid from licorice root in a liposomal complex.

  • Texture — cooling gel. Frequency — daily. Benefit — moisturise and soothe.
  • Amaretine™ — sensitive-skin symptoms −64% at 14 days (24 volunteers, 2% cream); redness −48% versus untreated after SLS irritation; 87% would recommend. COSMOS-approved, vegan, 100% natural origin, preservative-free.
  • Resooth-R30™ — Taiwanese red algae; redness area −19.3% at 7 days (20 women aged 25–65, 2% gel twice daily); IL-6 −43% ex vivo.
  • For sensitive, reactive and post-treatment ranges, clinics and aesthetic channels.

Figures come from raw-material supplier studies using 2–3% active in test creams or gels, not from the finished moisturizer. Case studies are small and individual results vary.

05. Strawberry Yogurt Cleansing Cream

Strawberry Yogurt Cleansing Cream - surfactant-free leave-on cleanser
Cleansing without the squeak.

Creamy, cultured, a little indulgent. A leave-on cleansing cream with no surfactants at all: it dissolves the day without lathering, stripping or leaving skin tight.

  • Texture — cream, leave-on. Frequency — daily as needed. Benefit — gentle cleanse.
  • Made for sensitive, dry and compromised skin that conventional cleansers punish.
  • Can be built with lactobacillus ferment filtrate and strawberry seed oil, bringing the postbiotic angle into the bottle.
  • The entry price point and the bundle anchor — the easiest SKU in the range to sell first.

This is a cleanser, not a treatment. Keep the claim set to cleansing and comfort.

Why these formulas hold up

ORIZI formulation principles for the food-inspired skincare range
Four formulation principles the whole range shares.
  • Gentle by design — a surfactant-free cleanser and scrub, oil-free options, no residue or white cast, built for humid weather.
  • Actives with credentials — COSMOS-approved, vegan and natural-origin actives; several halal-suitable.
  • Traceable food — dragon fruit recovered from unsold harvest, pesticide-free and traceable.
  • Evidence on file — clinical, ex vivo and consumer data, with study designs and their limits made explicit.

What you can change, and what you cannot

Yours: fragrance, colour, scrub particle, pack format, naming and claim angle. Ours: the active system and the formulation architecture. That line is what keeps the sampling cycle short — the base is already proven, so development time goes into your brand rather than into re-solving the chemistry.

How claims are substantiated

Every number in this catalogue sits in one of three tiers, and the tier is stated wherever the number appears:

  • Supplier clinical — a controlled study on a test cream, gel or serum at a stated percentage, with panel size and significance reported. This is the strongest tier here.
  • Supplier ex vivo or in vitro — cell or tissue work at a stated dilution. Directional, not consumer-facing.
  • Consumer self-report — what a panel said, not what was measured.

None of these is a finished-product result. A finished product carries only the claims its own testing and its destination market’s regulation will support, and ORIZI will tell you where that line sits before artwork.

The ORIZI perspective

The failure pattern we see most often with flavour-led skincare is not the formula — it is the gap between the name and the ingredient list. A brand names a product after a fruit, the regulator or a reviewer reads the INCI, and the fruit is not there. The fix is cheap if it happens at development stage and expensive if it happens after artwork: either carry a real extract of the food in the name, or write the name as an explicit sensory reference rather than an ingredient claim. We raise this on every food-led project before pack design starts, which is why each formula above lists what can be built in.

Limitations and claim notes

Every item in this catalogue is a development concept available for private-label development, not a registered retail product. All clinical figures are raw-material supplier studies at 2–5% active in test bases, not ORIZI finished-product testing; consumer percentages are self-reported and case studies are small. Search-volume figures are Google Keyword Planner ranges for Malaysia (English, October 2025 – September 2026) and are ranges, not exact counts. Final claims, ingredient lists and pack statements are confirmed per project and must satisfy the destination market’s regulation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order quantity?

From 500 units per SKU on these ready formulas. Three SKUs together is 1,500 units and all five is 2,500. Taking more than one at a time improves raw-material economics because several actives are bought in specifically for this range.

What is the difference between a ready formula and a custom formulation?

A ready formula is finished: the base, the active system and the stability work are already done, so you are choosing scent, colour, pack and claim angle. A custom formulation starts from your brief and takes longer, costs more and carries a higher MOQ.

Do the products contain the food in the name?

The names describe the sensory concept. Real food ingredients can be built in on request — black tea leaf extract, purple sweet potato extract, lactobacillus ferment filtrate and strawberry seed oil are all listed above — and the dragon fruit extract in the serum is already a real upcycled fruit extract. Ingredient lists are confirmed per project before artwork.

Which one should I start with?

Teh Tarik Face Mist if you want the story and the video; Strawberry Yogurt Cleansing Cream if you want the easiest first sale. The signature three gives a complete routine at 1,500 units.

Can I use the clinical numbers in my marketing?

Not as finished-product claims. They are supplier studies on test bases. We will tell you which claims your destination market will support and what testing would be needed to go further.

Are these Halal and NPRA-notifiable?

They are produced under ISO 22716 cosmetic GMP in a JAKIM halal-certified facility, with NPRA-notifiable options for Malaysia and export markets. Several actives are already halal-suitable at raw-material level.

Can these be exported?

Yes. Artwork and claim sets are checked against the destination market before release; the regulatory route differs by market and we will map it with you.
