What is food-inspired skincare?

Food-inspired skincare is skincare built around the sensory language of food — its colour, texture, scent and ingredient story — so a product feels familiar and appetising before a single claim is read.

Globally the category is already mature. Gourmand beauty outlived its 2025 summer spike and became a year-round line extension for mass brands; banana, ube, rice, coffee grounds and upcycled fruit peels all moved from the kitchen into skincare. What has not happened yet is Southeast Asia. Across 2026 launches, teh tarik, pandan and ais bandung have still not arrived in skincare at scale — even though the same flavours already sell in ice cream and beverages across the region.

Gourmand beauty trend 2026 - banana, ube, rice and upcycled fruit in skincare
The global gourmand shelf has educated the shopper. The Southeast Asian flavours are still open.

Five ready formulas

Each is a finished formula you can brand, adjust and launch. Fragrance, colour, scrub particle, pack format and naming are yours; the active system and formulation architecture stay with us.

Teh Tarik Face Mist OEM - bi-layer face mist

Teh Tarik Face Mist

A bi-layer mist that separates like pulled tea resting in a glass. Shake to emulsify water- and oil-soluble actives; the layers return within about an hour. A shelf demonstration nobody can copy off a global shelf.

Yam Scrub OEM - purple sweet potato gel scrub

Yam Scrub

A twice-weekly gel scrub with no surfactants and no oil — no stripped, tight or squeaky finish, no residue. Built for clean-beauty and sensitive-skin ranges that have never been able to carry a scrub.

Dragon Flame Serum OEM - dragon fruit serum-to-gel

Dragon Flame Serum

Goes on like water, sets like silk. A serum-to-gel texture carrying seven hyaluronate forms, a decapeptide complex and dragon fruit upcycled from unsold harvest.

Mix Berry Gel Moisturizer OEM - cooling gel with Amaretine

Mix Berry Gel Moisturizer

Cool on contact, no white cast, no tack. Andrographolide from the King of Bitters meets glycyrrhetinic acid from licorice root in a liposomal complex — a food story that is literally true.

Strawberry Yogurt Cleansing Cream OEM - surfactant-free cleanser

Strawberry Yogurt Cleansing Cream

A leave-on cream with no surfactants at all. It dissolves the day without lathering, stripping or leaving skin tight — made for sensitive, dry and compromised skin.

The actives inside the range

Five raw-material actives carry the technical claims. Several are new raw materials bought in for this range, so ordering more than one SKU at a time improves raw-material economics.

Evidence note. Every clinical figure associated with these actives comes from raw-material supplier studies using 2–5% active in test creams, gels or serums — not from ORIZI finished-product testing. Consumer percentages are self-reported. Claims for a finished product must be substantiated by that product’s own testing and by the regulations of the destination market.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order quantity for a food-inspired skincare formula?
From 500 units per SKU on these ready formulas. Taking three or five SKUs together improves raw-material economics because several actives are bought in specifically for this range.
Can I change the scent, colour and packaging?
Yes. Fragrance, colour, scrub particle, pack format, naming and claim angle are all yours. The active system and formulation architecture stay with ORIZI.
Do these formulas contain the food in the name?
The names describe the sensory concept. Real food ingredients such as black tea leaf extract, purple sweet potato extract or lactobacillus ferment filtrate can be built into the formulas on request, and the dragon fruit extract in the serum is already a real upcycled fruit extract. Ingredient lists are confirmed per project before artwork.
Can the claims be used in my market?
The figures on file are supplier studies, not finished-product results. We will tell you which claims are defensible in your destination market and what testing would be needed to go further.
Are these Halal and NPRA-notifiable?
They are produced under ISO 22716 cosmetic GMP with Halal-suitable and NPRA-notifiable options for Malaysia and export markets. Several of the actives are already halal-suitable at raw-material level.
How is a bi-layer mist different from a normal face mist?
It carries water-soluble and oil-soluble actives in two visible layers. Shaking emulsifies them for a single balanced mist; the layers re-separate within about an hour, which is both a usage ritual and a shelf demonstration.
